{"id":634,"date":"2015-02-05T07:53:48","date_gmt":"2015-02-05T15:53:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/staceetaft.com\/?p=634"},"modified":"2015-02-05T07:53:48","modified_gmt":"2015-02-05T15:53:48","slug":"fundraiser-cookie-dough-overtaking-your-freezer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staceetaft.net\/?p=634","title":{"rendered":"Fundraiser Cookie Dough Overtaking Your Freezer?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Each soccer season we are encouraged heavily to sell<br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">extremely<\/span> unhealthy cookie dough<br \/>\nto support our kids&#8217; soccer club.<\/p>\n<p>This is the kind of dough<br \/>\nthat you can leave on your counter for SIX months,<br \/>\nfreeze\/thaw back and forth or leave in the fridge&#8230;<br \/>\nand it will be fine.<br \/>\nPerfectly fine!!<\/p>\n<p>Yeah, not exactly stuff you want to push on people you love<br \/>\nand want to live a long healthy life! LOL<br \/>\nEspecially when I work so hard on our family eating healthy!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-638 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/staceetaft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/w20141024_133401-720x390.jpg\" alt=\"Stacee Taft Photography &amp; Design Blog Image\" width=\"720\" height=\"390\" \/><\/p>\n<p>But&#8230;<br \/>\nbecause we love to support the soccer club,<br \/>\nwe typically purchase 4 tubs of this stuff each year.<\/p>\n<p>Now these tubs take up quite a lot of space<br \/>\nfor the amount of cookies you get from them.<\/p>\n<p>And in our home,<br \/>\nfreezer space is at a premium!<\/p>\n<p>You can&#8217;t leave them in the fridge very long or else<br \/>\nthey dry out&#8230; fast.<br \/>\nNot so bad in the freezer, but again,<br \/>\nfreezer space is coveted and not to be wasted!<\/p>\n<p>But if you leave\u00a0them in the freezer<br \/>\nyou nearly break a spoon trying to get the dough out<br \/>\n&#8230;or you have to wait for it to thaw.<br \/>\nI have used an ice cream scoop and it wasn&#8217;t <em>horrible<\/em>,<br \/>\nbut it did break chips and nuts in half,<br \/>\nnot very pretty when you bake the cookies.<\/p>\n<p>So, this year I decided to try something new&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Make them more compact, faster &amp; easier to bake!<\/p>\n<p>{Btw, if you&#8217;re following this as directions,<br \/>\nnow is a good time to take off your rings&#8230;<br \/>\ndough does nasty things to rings!}<\/p>\n<p>I dumped the contents of a tub onto a Sil Pat (or any flexible non-stick surface)<br \/>\nand started squishing it into a long lump.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-639\" src=\"http:\/\/staceetaft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/w20141024_133447-720x326.jpg\" alt=\"Stacee Taft Photography &amp; Design Blog Image\" width=\"720\" height=\"326\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At this point I wasn&#8217;t going for pretty! LOL<\/p>\n<p>Then I wrapped the Sil Pat around the dough lump-log<br \/>\nand, with very strong hands, gently, but firmly<br \/>\nput pressure in the middle and worked it toward the outsides.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-640\" src=\"http:\/\/staceetaft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/w20141024_133510-720x275.jpg\" alt=\"Stacee Taft Photography &amp; Design Blog Image\" width=\"720\" height=\"275\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once it started &#8220;extruding&#8221; out the ends of my Sil Pat,<br \/>\nI broke the lump-log into two parts,<br \/>\nplacing the extra part on wax paper to wait for it&#8217;s turn.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-641\" src=\"http:\/\/staceetaft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/w20141024_133543-720x254.jpg\" alt=\"Stacee Taft Photography &amp; Design Blog Image\" width=\"720\" height=\"254\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-642\" src=\"http:\/\/staceetaft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/w20141024_133605-720x351.jpg\" alt=\"Stacee Taft Photography &amp; Design Blog Image\" width=\"720\" height=\"351\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Then I repeated the process again by wrapping the Sil Pat around the dough<br \/>\nand doing the same thing as before,<br \/>\nbut this time trying to make it very even along the whole log.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-646\" src=\"http:\/\/staceetaft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/w20141024_133644-720x375.jpg\" alt=\"Stacee Taft Photography &amp; Design Blog Image\" width=\"720\" height=\"375\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A few times I had to unroll the Sil Pat and adjust the dough and start again.<\/p>\n<p>Once\u00a0I had\u00a0a &#8220;pretty&#8221; log,<br \/>\nround or square,<br \/>\ndepending on how I held\u00a0my hands,<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-647\" src=\"http:\/\/staceetaft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/w20141024_134119-720x365.jpg\" alt=\"Stacee Taft Photography &amp; Design Blog Image\" width=\"720\" height=\"365\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I then placed the log onto saran wrap<br \/>\nand wrapped the ends first,<br \/>\nthen the sides.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-648\" src=\"http:\/\/staceetaft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/w20141024_134208-720x405.jpg\" alt=\"Stacee Taft Photography &amp; Design Blog Image\" width=\"720\" height=\"405\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I labeled each with baking temp and time<br \/>\nand, of course, what flavor of cookie it was.<\/p>\n<p>Then I put them on a cookie sheet<br \/>\nand put them in the freezer to flash freeze them.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-650\" src=\"http:\/\/staceetaft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/w20141024_134321-720x367.jpg\" alt=\"Stacee Taft Photography &amp; Design Blog Image\" width=\"720\" height=\"367\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once they were solid,<br \/>\nI\u00a0wrapped them again with wax paper<br \/>\njust to give them a little more protection from freezer burn or drying out.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-651\" src=\"http:\/\/staceetaft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/w20141024_191841-720x444.jpg\" alt=\"Stacee Taft Photography &amp; Design Blog Image\" width=\"720\" height=\"444\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It probably took me 15 minutes for three tubs<br \/>\n(other than trying to document this for you all)<br \/>\nto do the whole process up to flash freezing.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-649\" src=\"http:\/\/staceetaft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/w20141024_134227-720x509.jpg\" alt=\"Stacee Taft Photography &amp; Design Blog Image\" width=\"720\" height=\"509\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-643\" src=\"http:\/\/staceetaft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/w20141024_192149-720x290.jpg\" alt=\"Stacee Taft Photography &amp; Design Blog Image\" width=\"720\" height=\"290\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The benefit of this process is<br \/>\n1) You aren&#8217;t giving up nearly as much freezer space!<br \/>\n2) You can use any dough for this process, not just fundraiser cookie\u00a0dough!<br \/>\n3) You can simply grab a frozen log and slice off the cookies you need.<br \/>\n4) Super fast and easy.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-644\" src=\"http:\/\/staceetaft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/w20141024_192158-194x300.jpg\" alt=\"Stacee Taft Photography &amp; Design Blog Image\" width=\"194\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>However, this process does nothing to help the nutritional value of the cookies!\u00a0LOL<br \/>\nBut they do taste gooood!
